What's a KBPS?

KBPS - Standing for 'kilobits per second' is the way in which our audio streams are categorized in terms of bitrate, or quality. The formula boils down to:

  • Higher bitrate streams = better quality, larger file sizes ( 128kbps )
  • Lower bitrate streams = lower quality, but faster download times due to smaller file sizes ( 64kbps or 32kbps )

  Bitrate Example in Winamp

You'll see the "128 kbps" in the example above. ( Look just under the word "Wollcott" ) This displays the bitrate, measured in kbps, for each file playing in Winamp.
